What's Happening

How do kitchen cooker hoods work?Kitchen hoods work by capturing the airborne contaminants produced during cooking. The hood's canopy or hood opening covers the cooking surface, creating a containment area. A fan or blower pulls the air and pollutants into the hood, and a filtration system helps trap grease, smoke, and other impurities. The filtered air is then either expelled outside through ductwork or recirculated back into the kitchen after passing through additional filters to remove odours and particles.
-
Do kitchen cooker hoods require professional installation? While some kitchen hoods come with instructions for DIY installation, it is generally recommended to have a professional install the hood. Professional installation ensures proper placement, venting, and electrical connections, maximizing the hood's efficiency and safety. It also helps avoid potential issues with building codes or regulations.

How often should I clean my kitchen cooker hood filters? The frequency of cleaning kitchen hood filters depends on several factors, including how frequently you cook and the types of foods you prepare. As a general guideline, metal grease filters should be cleaned or replaced every 3 to 6 months, while charcoal filters in ductless hoods need regular replacement to maintain efficient odour removal.

What are the factors to consider when choosing a kitchen cooker hood? When choosing a kitchen hood, several factors should be considered to ensure you select the right one for your needs. Here are some key factors to consider: Kitchen Layout and Size: Assess the layout and size of your kitchen to determine the appropriate hood type and size. Consider factors such as the placement of the stove or cooktop, available space, and any surrounding cabinetry or obstacles. The kitchen hood must be at least as wide as the cooktop and therefore, we have hoods from 40 cm to 120 cm wide. In addition, we must take into account that the hood must be at least 65 cm above the gas hobs and 60 cm above the electric hobs. In any case, we recommend checking the installation instructions of the hood, in case the distance should be greater. Range Hood Type: Choose a range hood type that suits your kitchen layout and design. Common options include wall-mounted hoods (suitable for range or cooktop against a wall), island hoods (for island or peninsula cooking surfaces), and downdraft hoods (installed behind the cooking surface). Extraction Power: Consider the required extraction power of the range hood based on your cooking habits. If you frequently cook dishes that generate a lot of smoke, steam, or strong odours, opt for a range hood with a higher extraction capacity. You may also calculate the extraction capacity your kitchen needs for efficient extraction: (kitchen m² x its height = m³) m³ x 12 = m³/h, the extraction capacity required for that space. Noise Level: Some kitchen hoods can be noisy, so consider noise levels if you have an open-concept kitchen or prefer quieter operation. Look for hoods with sound-absorbing materials and/or low-noise fan motors. Filter Type and Maintenance: Consider the type of filters the range hood uses and their maintenance requirements. Metal grease filters require periodic cleaning or replacement, while charcoal filters in ductless range hoods need regular replacement to maintain efficient odour removal. Aesthetics and Design: Choose a range hood that complements your kitchen's style and design. Consider factors such as the range hood's material, finish, and overall design aesthetic. Budget: Determine your budget range for a kitchen hood. Prices can vary significantly based on features, brand, and hood type. Set a budget and look for hoods that offer the best value for your requirements. By considering these factors, you can make an informed decision when choosing a kitchen hood that meets your specific needs, budget, and kitchen requirements.
